Being featured in Vogue is something I could only aspire to achieve at the beginning of Paper Seed Floristry. I distinctively remember thinking to myself: ‘wouldn’t it be amazing if one day my work will be recognised for its uniqueness and style that it is good enough for Vogue’. Little did I know that 9 months down the line, the dream has become a reality that I am still shocked by!
Planning for the feature in Vogue was an exciting opportunity but it wasn’t an easy task. I want to introduce a trend that is not only unique but breaks the normality of what we know wedding flowers to be. I could not think of anything better than paper floristry because creating flowers out of paper is an art that is waiting to be explored by the wedding industry!
For my Vogue feature, I was inspired to design and create a bridal bouquet into a floral hoop. Floral hoops are a beautiful and classy alternative to the traditional bouquet. It perfectly captures the beauty of minimalism but shows such a bold statement of uniqueness that that is not often seen, and of course pairing it with handcrafted paper flowers just brings it to a new level of creativity! All of which are often represented within the contents of Vogue Magazines.
Showcasing in the bridal hoop above are roses, freesias, lavenders and lilly of the valley. All of them are intricately designed and handcrafted from paper to blooms. I create bespoke pieces like these for brides and grooms so that they can keep these everlasting art from their wedding day to admire for years to come.
National Film Awards
I had the privilege to design and create a unique paper flower display for the National Film Awards UK that took place in London on the 27th March 2019 at Porchester Hall. This was a huge project I decided to take on with a very tight time frame for designing, creating and travel to London for set up, but I do love a good challenge!
I spent a whole day just brainstorming and sketching ideas of the flower wall because I wanted a showstopper design. The number of flowers and leaves that was created took a whole week of non-stop crafting! Even thinking about it now makes my fingers hurt! But, looking at each petal being sculpted into paper flowers, I couldn’t be happier with the finished product!
The big day was nothing less than busy. I was still giving final touches to my paper blooms the morning of. Honestly speaking, I had butterflies on the way to set up at the venue – lots of excitement with a little dose of anxiousness and nerves because everything I did in preparation for this day has arrived.
Set up took a total of 4 hours from building the flower wall to attaching the paper flowers to the panels. A big thanks to gocre8 for the amazing printed canvas but more so, their impeccable service for providing such a high quality product, capturing what I envisioned the flower wall to be. I am so proud to showcase my talent at a national stage but an even greater sense of achievement was seeing all the VIP guests enjoying my creation because I put my heart and soul into projects I create!
Tatler April 2019
Earlier this year I was approached by Tatler – one of the UK’s most iconic magazine, and was given an amazing opportunity to work with them on their wedding editorial page. The whole process from the emails to design and creation happened so quickly I have not had the time to let the news sink in – that I was going to be featured in Tatler magazine!
One of my favourite stages of work is designing and creating each individual bouquet. I really enjoy immersing myself in ideas of colours, styles, and most importantly, the feelings I want each bouquet to capture. When designing this bouquet exclusive for Tatler, one word came to mind – timeless. This word resonates with me because it not only refers to the look of a product but it also represents the very reason why I create paper bouquets; it becomes a timeless keepsake to treasure forever.
In the short time from when Paper Seed Floristry began, I feel blessed and honoured for my work to be recognised and to feature in such a prestigious magazine. This has opened doors to new exciting opportunities which I am currently undertaking and I can’t wait to share more with you, so stay tuned for more!
